- The first stage of the 2010 FRANCE 24 – RFI Web Documentary Awards is now complete. In just one month, we have received web documentaries from around the world.
At the end of July, a jury met to undertake the pre-selection process that we have decided to share with you: 9 web documentaries have been nominated.
This coming August 31st , on the occasion of the festival “Visa pour l’Image – Perpignan”, they will be presented to an international jury made up of leading figures from the web, photography and media. The awards ceremony will be held in Perpignan on Wednesday, September 1st during the festival. The winner will receive a cheque for 8000 Euros.

- FRANCE 24-RFI Web Documentary Award
FRANCE 24, the international news channel, and RFI, the international news radio station, launched the first edition of the Web Documentary Award in 2009 in partnership with the photojournalism festival “Visa pour l’Image - Perpignan”.
This project aims to encourage the development of a new form of information based on the wide possibilities offered by new media and internet.
This initiative is in line with the strategy undertaken by FRANCE 24 and RFI, both pioneer media in the use of multimedia tools, new technologies and innovative perspective on news.
Open to all, this prize rewards the best and most original journalistic project published online in terms of choice and coverage of a multimedia news topic. The laureate will be granted 8.000 Euros. In order to select a prize-winner, the jury will use the following criteria:
- choice of topic
- the journalistic approach in the treatment of the topic
- multimedia approach
- production quality
- interactivity
The candidates are required to innovate, to advance or contribute to the reflection on a modern way to presenting information on the web.

The FRANCE 24-RFI Web Documentary Award is organized within the framework of the “Visa pour l’Image - Perpignan” photojournalism festival which has gathered the greatest number of photojournalists and the representatives of major international newspapers and magazines for over 20 years.
At the 22nd edition of Visa pour l’Image - Perpignan (from 28 August to 12 September 2010 – Perpignan, France) a jury of international personalities from the world of information, photography and new media will present this award.
