Zimbabwean gay activists due in court

Section 11 of The Censorship and Entertainments Control Act decrees that no person shall import, print, publish, distribute, or keep for sale any publication which is "indecent or obscene or is offensive or harmful to public morals or is likely to be contrary to public health”.
 
“Harassment and victimisation of LGBT people might occur without recourse to the law,” Chesterfield Samba, who works for GALZ, told RFI.
 
Homosexual acts, which include holding hands, kissing and hugging, are illegal in Zimbabwe. Mugabe has described gay people as "lower than dogs".
In 1995, GALZ came to Mugabe’s attention.
 
"I find it extremely outrageous and repugnant to my human conscience that such immoral and repulsive organisations, who offend both against the law of nature and the morals of religious beliefs espoused by our society, should have any advocates in our midst and elsewhere in the world,” he said.
