French approach to Africa under fire

French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner has defended the government's relations with Africa

The former ambassador to Senegal has launched an attack on France over the country's relations with Africa. Jean-Christophe Rufin says the Elysée has taken power from the foreign ministry and is using it to propogate sinister networks that are in some ways worse than the bad old days of Françafrique - when France systematically exploited the resources of its former colonies.
