The death of another three people in clashes between rival ethnic groups in Conakry has led to a state of emergency being declared in Guinea.

Guinea's interim president General Sekouba Konate, who has led the country since January, decreed it would last until the results of the country's elections are confirmed by the Supreme Court.

Supporters of presidential candidate Cellou Dalein Diallo clashed with security forces after preliminary results declared opposition leader Alpha Condé the winner.

Dalein Diallo's supporters say the elections are a fraud.

The West African commission Ecowas is involved in crisis talks with the parties in the elections to resolve the stand off. It believes the elections have been presided over properly.

“All the elements pointed to the fact that the electoral commission did everything that is feasible, and they even went beyond what was normally agreed because they took time”, Mohamane Touré, Ecowas’ commissioner for political affairs and security told RFI.

guinea

Yah that is true the fulani are suffering a lot more than every one in the country right now they have been killed beaten and their houses burned in Conakry and in different areas in the country belive me am calling guinea every day and this reporter is not telling the truth it souldnt be like that

I think the statement made by

I think the statement made by Mohamed toure a Malinke by tribe for those of you who dont know is baseless. He is sugesting everything went on smothley with the elections ignoring the fact that thousands of fulanis were driven and some killed in malinke dominated areas during the campigns. In those areas fulanis were so intimidated they could not even vote fearing they could be killed. Mohamed toure please think before you puty such a baseless statement out the world is watching. We know your malinke are capable of igniting war just like Alhaji Koroma did in liberia with the ULIMO K. WE ARE WATCHING THE SITUATION CLOSELY

Narrow-Minded Chauvinistic Prolification in Guinea

I am a Gambian who lived and studied with Cellou in the same building named "8 Novembre or Londre" at the Gamal Abdel Nassr University. We know each other very well. Indeed cellou was a room mate to say the least. cellou belonged to the Samory promotion and I of the Bokar Biro
I am against misconstrued tribal/ethnical visage and dimention of the guinean issue since we all know that former Prime Ministers Kuyateh and Toure of whom are Malinke joined ranks with Cellou against Conde. This makes the tribal atgument baseless.
On more serious score we have to note that Guinea has four (4) main regions:Moyenne Guinea;Haute Guinea,Base Guinea and Guinea Forestere.
The last two regions (Base and forest)have the majority of popuplations and are the richest in all aspect and yet they are silent and their votes seem to be forgotten in the process.
The Fulas and Malinke essentially occupy landlocked areas and the poorest regions without any outlet Moyen Guinea (Fula) next door neighbours to Senegal only and Haute Guinea (Malinke) next door to Mali.
The rishest and regions with largest combined populations; base guinea next door neighbours to Bissau with sea outlets and Forest region next door to Liberia, Sierra-leone and Ivory Coast possess the togethr all the mineral, agricultural and fisheries wealth of the country.
We therefore invite the minority poor regions of the Fulas (Moyenne) and the Malinkes (haute) to keep the peace and stay away from chauvinistic trouble to avoid similar narrow-minded sentiments to flare up in the more populated and richer regions.

It is true that the two most

It is true that the two most important parts of guinea is the Bas And Forest Guinea, the other two regions consisting of the Fulas and the Malinkes should not turn the country into a very narrow shape and a country of tribal clashes..It is getting worst that Guineans are getting lost of their lives and properties just for politics.
Alpha and Cellou will not loose and they are under tight security, its only the supporters will be wounded.
I beg Guineans to bring down their tempers and accept the results. The two leaders are all Guineans and are all calling for National Unity and Democracy.
Long live Peace in Africa
