The authorities had beefed up the security contingent in Jos to stop violence from spreading in the region.

At least 32 people were killed and 74 wounded when seven explosions went off in two different areas of Jos on Friday evening.

Many of the victims were doing their Christmas shopping.

Five more people, all of them Muslims, were reported killed today in apparent revenge attacks.
