At least four die in anti-regime protests in Libya

At least four people have been killed in clashes with Libyan security forces ahead of a nationwide “day of anger”, opposition websites and NGOs said on Thursday. The websites and a Libyan rights group based in London said the violence involving demonstrators opposed to the regime of Libya's leader Moamer Kadhafi took place on Wednesday in the eastern town of Al-Baida.

"Internal security forces and militias of the Revolutionary Committees used live ammunition to disperse a peaceful demonstration by the youth of Al-Baida," according to Libya Watch.

At least four people died and several were injured as a result, it said.

The violence came after protesters called for a "day of anger" to take place in the country. One Facebook group which had 4,400 members on Monday, had seen that number rise to 9,600 by Wednesday.

Kadhafi, 68, has been in power since 1969.
