ICC wants Interpol to track down Kadhafi

International prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo has asked Interpol to issue a red notice for Moamer Kadhafi. Libya’s new rulers on Thursday claimed to have taken control of the Red Valley near Kadhafi’s hometown, Sirte.
Ocampo wants the global policing agency to track down the deposed Libyan leader and bring him before the International Criminal Court at The Hague “for the alleged crimes against humanity of murder and persecution", according to a press release by his office.
Tunisia announced Thursday afternoon that it has prevented close Kadhafi aid General Khoulidi Hamidi from leaving its territory.
Customs police at Tunis airport prevented Hamidi and his family from flying out on Wednesday.
Hamidi, a former head of military intelligence, served on the Revolution Command Council Kadhafi created when he seized power in 1969 and was considered one of the ousted leader's closest allies.
In Libya National Transitional Council forces have captured the Red Valley on the road to Sirte, NTC military leader Mustafa Bendaraf told the AFP news agency on Thursday.

OCAMPO , THE ICC AND THE INTERPOL
THE IDEA THAT OCAMPO AND THE ICC CAN ORDER THE INTERPOL TO DO ANYTHING WILL SET SOME DANGEROUS LEGAL PRECEDENTS.
THE INTERPOL SHOULD CONTINUE TO BE INDEPENDENT FROM THE ICC AND SHOULD ONLY OBEY REQUESTS FROM GOVERNMENTS .
OCAMPO IS PLAYING WITH FIRE BUT LITTLE DOES HE KNOW THAT HE HIMSELF MAY ONE DAY BECOME A VICTIM OF HIS OWN DEVICE ; MUCH LIKE THE GUY WHO INVENTED THE GUILLOTINE.
