In Uganda, the government has announced the removal electricity subsidies which will increase rates to consumers and businesses by at least 42 per cent. Uganda hopes to attract private investors to put money into renewable energy projects. RFI spoke to a Ugandan electricity sector advocate, who speaks of the toll this rate hike will take on the average Ugandan.
