Two French questioned over Madagascar double murder
Police in Madagascar are questioning two French people in connection with the murder of a French couple, - Gerald Fontaine and his pregnant girlfriend Johanna Delahaye - on a deserted beach in the south of the island two weeks ago.
Issued on: Modified:
A resident of the town of Tuléar where the couple had been running a restaurant, said one of the men was a friend of Fontaine.
Six local people have already been detained over the deaths for which police have still not given a motive.
One man gave himself up to police on Thursday after two of the detained men confessed to the murder
On 12 April, the couple had ridden a quad to a nearby beach located in an idyllic spot but isolated and reputedly dangerous. Delahaye's badly beaten body was found three days later.
It was another ten days before Fontaine's body was discovered in a village 65 kilometres from Tuléar.
Last year another Frenchman was murdered on the same beach and the head of the Alliance Francaise was attacked there at the beginning of the year.
