Libyans celebrate post-Kadhafi elections

In Libya early results are starting to trickle in after the country's landmark elections, the first polls in decades, following the fall of former Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi. Celebrations continued throughout the weekend after Saturday's vote with officials saying that around 98 per cent of polling stations were open during the day. International election observers, such as the European Union, have called the vote peaceful and free of fear and intimidation, despite some problems in the east of the country. Essam Sharaf, a top Egyptian diplomat who is heading one of the main African election observation missions in Libya, comments.
