Angola's post-war generations goes to the polls
A ballot paper is seen ahead of the national elections in the capital Luanda, 31 August, 2012
Reuters/Siphiwe SibekoAngolans go to the polls today in the second general election since the end of the country's long civil war. The party that wins will authomatically see its leader made president. This year also marks the 10th year of peace since the Luena Memorandum of Understanding was signed, putting to an end decades of civil war. A new generation that did not fight in the wart will vote to determine their country's future, says Markus Weimer, an Angolan specialist at Chatham House in London.
