Does Africa need a space agency?

Communications ministers from across Africa have met in Sudan to discuss the possibility of an African space research agency. Sudan’s President, Omar al-Bashir, said Africa must have its own space agency. The project, known as AfriSpace, would allow African states to cooperate on space research and technology. But does Africa really need a space agency, especially when the money could be put to other uses? RFI spoke to Timiebi Aganaba, an African space expert at McGill University in Canada.
