Somalia's newly elected President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud

After eight years of UN-backed transitional governmant, Somalia has a new elected president. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, an academic and activist, won 190 votes against 79 for the outgoing president Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, who had been the favourite. RFI spoke to Augustine Mahiga, the United Nations envoy to Somalia.
