Questions are being asked about whether al-Qaeda was behind the attack that killed the US ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens. Some regional analysts believe the assault was timed to avenge the death of Abu Yahya al-Libi, a Libyan and al-Qaeda's second in command who was killed in June by a US drone strike in Pakistan. Robin Simcox, a security analyst with the Henry Jackson Society in London and a co-author of the book Islamist Terrorism, told RFI the al-Qaeda connection is "increasingly clear."
