From Northern Ireland hospitals to Ugandan politics

Reuters/StringerUganda's first ever white politician has just completed his first year in office. Ian Clarke, a doctor from Northern Ireland, is a former missionary, who founded the country's leading private hospital, and runs charities providing healthcare all over the country. In 2011 he became mayor of Makindye, district of Kampala, with the objective of improving public services in one of the poorest parts of the city. RFI met him in Kampala to see what he had achieved. In the first of a two part series, RFI follows his political career.
