NGOs develop a game in Senegal to promote safe motherhood

Issued on:

In Senegal, it is estimated that 1,200 mothers dies every 100,000 births. Lowering maternal mortality is one of the daunting challenges facing the government, and in villages where the illiteracy rate is exceptionally high, very few pregnent women go to health centres for check-ups or even to deliver the baby. But the Non-Governmental Organisation Plan International and a consortium of other international agencies have developed a wooden box game to promote safe motherhood.
