Franco-Cameroonian singer Sandra Nkaké and the characters in her music

Issued on:

Franco-Cameroonian singer-songwriter Sandra Nkaké was named "French jazz revelation" in 2012. But she's also an actress and her live performances are pure theatre. Her second album Nothing for granted takes her love of cinema and literature one step further as she takes on a range of fictional characters from a little girl (Conversation) to drug addict (Same reality) to black woman (Skeletone). Nkaké talks to RFI about her Africanity, crying out for freedom, and how music has helped her be true to herself.Sandra Nkaké is currently on a European tour. Click here for dates.
