Girifna: Sudanese youth movement now nominated for an advocacy award

Issued on:

A freedom of expression group has shortlisted a Sudanese political movement for an international prize. 'Index on Censorship' says Girifna, a Sudanese youth movement that calls for non-violent resistance, could win an advocacy award. Girifna, whose name means “We are fed up” in Arabic, was set up by students to encourage peers to vote in the 2010 elections. Ibrahim Babiker is a Girifna member and has been living in exile in the US. He speaks to RFI.
