Insurgents in Mali have launched a fresh attack on the army in the rebel bastion of Kidal. The National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad, the MNLA, which is fighting for autonomy in northern Mali, are reported to have ambushed soldiers at a central bank. The fighting comes three days after the Tuareg MNLA suspended peace talks with the Malian government. To find out more, RFI spoke to Jeremy Keenan, a specialist on the Tuareg people and professor at The School of Oriental and African in London.
