South Africa cracks down on illegal immigration

South Africa's government has come under international criticism for what's been called their 'heavy handed' approach to cracking down on illegal immigrants. Even the army has been deployed in places to assist in raiding migrants' homes. This follows on the outbreak of attacks on migrants last month, after Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini reportedly called foreigners 'lice' and demanded their expulsion. In today's Spotlight on Africa, RFI explores the underlying reasons behind South Africa's treatment of the people trying to make the country their home.
