Strauss-Kahn moves house again

Former IMF boss Dominique Strauss-Kahn moved to a luxury apartment in a trendy district of Manhattan on Wednesday, leaving the 71 Broadway address, where he had lived since being released on bail on Friday.

According to a real estate listing, the 600-square-metre townhouse at 153 Franklin Street in Tribeca has four bedrooms, a jet tub and waterfall shower and a home-cinema.

Details of the residence, posted on the website townrealestate.com show that the house was recently put on the market for nearly 14 million US dollars.

It is not known who owns the property now, or how much Strauss-Kahn is paying in rent.

The French politician is not allowed to leave his new accommodation, except to visit his lawyers, to seek medical attention, or once a week for religious services.

He must wear an electronic tag at all times, and armed guards working round the clock are posted at the exits of his new home, which is also under video surveillance.

Strauss-Kahn was obliged to leave the 71 Broadway address because it was only a stop-gap residence, owned by the security company managing his home detention, which had assured local residents when Strauss-Kahn was released from prison that he would stay in the Lower Manhattan block for less than a week.

The former IMF chief's wife, Anne Sinclair, had originally hoped to rent a luxury apartment in New York's Upper East Side, but local residents there objected, forcing the couple to take up the offer of the 71 Broadway temporary accommodation.
