Mexico G-20 to debate state control of food prices

As Mexico is preparing the 2012 G-20 summit, as the first developing country to host the event, discussion papers are being presented on topics that are likely to trigger fierce debate among member states. One of them is price volatility, or food prices regulated by the market. The current economic crises have caused food prices to swing violently and that had an immedeate effect on local farmers in developing countries and poor consumers. An issue that's been taboo for decades has reappeared on the agenda: state regulation of staple-food prices.
