French police confirm search for Canadian psycho killer

French police on Saturday confirmed they are searching for Luka Rocco Magnotta, the Canadian porn star suspected of murdering his alleged lover and mailing body parts to political parties. The wanted man could be wearing a wig and be dressed as a woman, according to Canadian police.

A French police source told the AFP news agency that “targeted searches” are under way for the man the tabloids have dubbed “Canadian psycho”.

The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Chinese student, Jun Lin, who arrived in Quebec last July to study.

Interpol issued a Red Notice to member countries after a video of the killing surfaced on the internet and Canadian police say that Magnotta took a flight for France from Montreal on 26 April, although French police have not confirmed the claim.

Investigators seem to have lost track of him after that, although on Saturday they said that they had some information on “after the airport” that they were not making public.

Magnotta appears to have used the internet to express anti-police and white supremacist views.

Alex West, a journalist from the British-based Sun newspaper, interviewed him about a video in which he fed a live kitten to a python six months ago and claims to have received an email afterwards promising a video in which “you’ll see humans not kittens”.
