Audio slideshow: Alvin Ailey's legacy lives on

Classic ballet meets negro spirituals in the Theater's signature piece, Revelations, choreographed by Alvin Ailey in 1960 at the height of the civil rights movement. Alvin Ailey remains the most revered African-American choreographer, even after his death in 1989. Now Robert Battle, the artistic director, is stamping his own mark on the Theater with high-flying athletic repertoires. In his latest offering, The Hunt, eight male dancers pulsate their way through a ritual-inspired piece to an urban drum beat.
