A week after the US Republican Party convention, the Democratic Party is holding its own convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. President Barack Obama is due to be nominated as the party's candidate for the presidential elections in November. RFI speaks to vereran US political analyst John Davis on the role of the convention in the election campaign.
