A Native American tribe is asking for objects up for auction in Paris next week to be returned. 70 ceremonial headdresses used by the Hopi and Zuni tribes in the south-western United States will go on sale at the Drouot auction house. This follows an auction of pre-Colombian artefacts in Paris last month that was contested by the governments of Mexico, Peru and Guatemala. Auctions like these are forcing France to rethink its approach to buying and exhibiting authentic artefacts from other cultures.
