Prince, 55, took his French fans by surprise with the announcement that he would play two gigs at the Zénith concert hall.

Tickets only went on sale on Wednesday.

At 77 and 143 euros they were dearer than the 10 pounds (13 euros) charged for surprise performances, announced just hours ahead, in London earlier this.

The tour has also seen last-minute gigs in Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds, Amsterdam and Antwerp and will go on to Berlin on 3 June and Vienna four days later.

Prince will be accompanied by all-female group 3RDEYEGIRL, consisting of guitarist Donna Grantis, the drummer Hannah Ford Welton and bassist Ida Nielsen.

His new album, "PLECTRUMELECTRUM", is expected to be released in the coming months after Prince reconciled with Warner Music in April following several years without a label.
