France calls on US to end aid for Boeing
The French and German economy ministers have called on the US to end what European governments consider to be illegal subsidies for aviation giant Boeing.

On a visit to the headquarters of Boeing’s European competitor, Airbus, the ministers called on the US to “engage in fair competition and not in competition that relies on billions of dollars in subsidies."
French Economy Minister Arnaud Montebourg said the US is violating World Trade Organization (WHO) rules by giving subsidies in the form of tax breaks in certain US states.
"We expect the European Commission, in its current trade negotiations, to point out to the United States the fact that they are violating WHO rules" said Montebourg.
Montebourg added that France is striving for European countries "to back the world champion that is Airbus".
The European Union accuses the United States of providing Boeing with tax breaks on US territory.
