US farmers reduce food waste using social media

The UN says a third of the world's food supply is wasted. Over in the United States about 40 per cent of product doesn't make it to the dining table and the problem is quite severe. Farmers often simply can't sell their produce before it spoils or it doesn't meet stringent aesthetic standards set by supermarkets. But now, farmers in the American state of California are using social media to reduce food waste.
