Officials in Pakistan claim a top Taliban commander has been killed in a gunbattle. Six soldiers die in one of the deadliest days of fighting in Afghanistan so far. Bangladesh's High Court tells police to stop harrassing women who do not wear the full-face Muslim veil. Tens of women and children are killed in a stampede at a temple in the Indian province of Uttar Pradesh.
