Red Shirts to accept Vejjajiva offer

Thailand's anti-government Red Shirt protesters says they will accept Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva's proposed reconciliation roadmap, under which elections would be held in November. Red Shirt supporters of former premier Thaksin Shinawatra have been staging rallies in the capital Bangkok for the past eight weeks.
Following the election offer, protest leader Veera Musikapong said they had decided unanimously to join the reconciliation roadmap to prevent further loss of life.
A series of clashes between the demonstrators and security forces have left 27 people dead and nearly 1,000 more injured. The violence was the country's worst civil unrest in almost two decades.
Earlier, Shinawatra called for "reconcilation" and hoped that "good things" would happen on Coronation Day on Wednesday.
"Reconciliation is good for everybody," he said. "Today don't think about the past but look to the future. That is how national reconciliation will happen."
Abhisit has said that his proposal for elections on 14 November is subject to all parties agreeing to his reconciliation roadmap.
The authorities says they are ready to discuss an amnesty for protest leaders who have defied a ban on rallies under a state of emergency in the capital. Arrest warrants have been issued for many top Red Shirts.
