Mousavi is at home, not in jail, says site

Iranian opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi is not in jail, according to his website; he and his wife Zahra Rahnevard are at home, contrary to previous claims that they were being detained at Teheran’s Heshmatueyh prison.

"In recent days it has become evident to Kaleme.com that Mrs Rahnavard and Mr Mousavi... are under house arrest and so the news of their transfer from their home to a detention centre needs to be corrected and we apologise to our readers," said a statement on Mousavi’s website Kaleme.com.

The statement condemned the house arrest as "unethical and illegal”.

The Iranian authorities had denied that Moussavi and another opposition leader, Mehdi Karoubi, were in prison, as their websites claimed.

They have, however, been under house arrest since mid-February.
