China air and sea tensions

Issued on:

Japan and South Korea have defied a Chinese edict to report any air travel through a newly declared air defence zone in the East China Sea. The two countries sent military aircraft without informing China, further complicating tensions in a long-running dispute over a small group of islands administered by Japan but also claimed by both China and Taiwan.
