Indonesia to execute French national on drug charges
Indonesia is set to execute a convicted French drug-pusher after his appeal for presidential clemency was rejected. Serge Atlaoui has been on death row since 2007 after being arrested two years earlier during a raid on a secret laboratory producing ecstasy close to the capital, Jakarta.

Atlaoui has always claimed he believed the factory was making solvents.
Indonesia's new President Joko Widodo has been a vocal supporter of capital punishment for drug offenders.
In January Indonesia executed six, including five foreigners.
This prompted Brazil and the Netherlands, whose citizens were among those put to death, to recall their ambassadors.
On Monday Atlaoui's lawyer, Richard Sédillot, filed a last-ditch appeal against the conviction.
French Foreign Affairs Minister Laurent Fabius was due in Jakarta on Tuesday and Sédillot wa hoping he would addi his weight to Atlaoui's request for a reprieve.
