On today’s special summer Sound Kitchen, DJ Doug cooks up a musical voyage …

Hello everyone!

No quiz this week – I’m on vacation. The quizzes will be back when I am, on 1 August. Meanwhile, enjoy these special summer Sound Kitchens … and, why not? How about cooking up some essays for me to come back to?

Podcasts and Facebook

The Sound Kitchen is now podcastable.

To subscribe, go to our home page at rfienglish.com. Up at the very top are tabs that say France/Africa/Culture/Sports, etc. Click on the tab that says “Features”. Scroll down until you see “The Club 9516/Sound Kitchen”, and click on the little red icon. A box comes up with the address, which you copy and paste into your podcast player.

If you have trouble figuring it out, look to the right of our homepage for the “About Us” tab. There are a series of arrows, click on those until you get to “How to Listen to RFI in English”.

Click on thatLook for “For help with podcasting, click here”, click, and you’ll see how to subscribe to the Club 9516/Sound Kitchen podcasts.

One last thing … don’t forget the Sound Kitchen page on Facebook. Take a look – and participate!

I still want to hear about people in your community who are doing good things, for a regular feature on the Club 9516/Sound Kitchen about “ordinary” heroes – the people in your community who are trying to make the world a better place.

And I still want to hear about the weirdest thing that has ever happened to you, or that you’ve seen … or, your favourite guilty pleasure – mine’s chocolate - or your favourite thing to do on a Sunday afternoon. Share your proudest achievement with us all – and send in your musical requests and dedications, too.

Here’s something new: what will you read this summer? Send me your summer reading list – we’ll put it up on the web, so we can all share it.

And then the all-important recipes and proverbs: get ‘em in! As I’ve been telling you, we’re going to put together a Sound Kitchen cookbook, filled with your recipes - and your proverbs, too. We won’t put the book together for awhile, so there’s still time to be included.

If you contribute, you will be the first to receive a Sound Kitchen Cookbook.
Send your thoughts to me at:
thesoundkitchen@rfi.fr
or, of course,  via “real” mail:

To your pens! Include a phone number, if you can. I’d like to call you and put you on-the-air – and send you an RFI CD. If you go on the air, you’ll get a CD of music chosen by the RFI musical team - so don’t be shy! And be sure you tell me how to pronounce your name!

I look forward to hearing from you – and have a great summer!

Susan
