Shakespeare goes gangsta

Timon of Athens is not one of William Shakespeare's best known plays. And you are even less likely to recognise it in a new version that is currently touring France, because all of the play's original verse has been translated into rap. Director Razerka Ben Sadia-Lavant explains how she found Shakespeare's rhythm, and rapper Mike Ladd reveals why Timon is 'gangsta'.

Timon d'Athènes is at the Maison des Métallos in Paris until 12 March, and the Théâtre de Nîmes from 19-21 April.
