A community hero from Nigeria
By Susan Owensby

Today you’ll hear about John James Bassey’s Community Hero.

Hello everyone!

If you are a regular Sound Kitchen listener, you’ll remember how often listeners would come on the air, before the Sound Kitchen was transformed into the Sound Kitchenette … and if you’ve been down the road with me since the format of the programme was changed, you know that I’ve continued to call for your essays, promising to get you to air, even though we have such a small amount of time together every week.

That time has come … today, you’ll hear from listener John James Bassey from Cross River State in Nigeria, about his community hero.

I hope you’ll be inspired to write about your community hero - the people in your neighbourhood who are working to make the world a better place.

And where is your “This I Believe” essay? Write about the principles that guide your life - what you have found to be true for you. How about sharing with us your Radio Club’s activities, and telling us about festivals you celebrate in your community?

Send in your mini-book reviews, your musical requests, your favourite proverbs – or just what you happen to have been thinking about of late.

Send your thoughts to:

Include a phone number, if you can. I’d like to call you and put you on-the-air … and send you a present for participating.
I look forward to hearing from you!

All the best,

Susan
