Hello everyone!

Welcome to The Sound Kitchen. You can catch the programme on-the-air every Saturday, at 4:52, 6:22, and 7:52 universal time. You’ll hear the winner’s names announced and the week’s quiz question, along with all the other ingredients you have grown accustomed to: your letters and essays, “On This Day”, quirky facts and news, interviews, and great music … so be sure and tune in every Saturday.

This week’s quiz: On 10 January, I asked you a question about Egypt. On 4 January, Miroslav Barta and his colleagues from the Czech Institute of Egyptology found the tomb of a previously unknown queen, in Abu-sir, an Old Kingdom cemetery for the ancient Egyptian capital of Memphis. This queen was thought to have ruled 4500 years ago, and my question to you was: Who do the archeologists think this lady queen is (or was)?

The answer is: Khentakawess. Khentakawess is thought to be either the wife or the mother of Pharaoh Neferefre. Egyptian Antiquities Minister Mamdouh el-Damaty said that her name was inscribed on a wall in the necropolis. Mr Damaty added that this would make her Khentakawess III, as two earlier Egyptian queens with the same name have been previously identified.

The winners this week are: Two listeners from Bangladesh: Sajjad Hossain, from Dinajpur, and Abdol Bari, a member of the RFI Fan Club in Naogaon. From Bamenda, Cameroon, Kinkoh Ignatius Nfon; from Kathmandu, Nepal, RFI Listeners Club member Sunil Dhungana, and from Pretoria East, South Africa, Kolawole Olulana.

Congratulations, winners!
