Blast hits French Socialist Party office
An office of France’s ruling Socialist Party has been bombed and daubed with slogans, apparently by protesting winemakers.

An explosive device destroyed the entrance to the party’s headquarters in the mediaeval city of Carcassonne, south-west France, at 1.00am on Wednesday, smashing windows and bringing down the ceiling.
It also blew out the windows of a school opposite the office.
Graffiti were daubed on the walls, spelling out “Le Foll!”, the name of the current agriculture minister, and CAV, the initials of a shadowy group called Comité d’Action Viticole that has carried out attacks on imported wine and public buildings in the past.
Le Foll has condemned the attack.
Calling the blast an attack on democracy, local Socialist leader Eric Andrieu pointed out that no group has claimed responsibility for it and cast doubt on the likelihood that winemakers were involved.
The explosion seems "more like a political act", he said.
