Setting out for Vienna on Thursday, Ayrault said he hoped his government's new cost-cutting
and pro-business focus would win over investors and help build partnerships.
The visit began with meetings with national officials, industry leaders and entrepreneurs.
The government sees it as a chance to trumpet President François Hollande's announcements this week of widespread cuts and employer's social security contributions.
Austrian entrepreneurs are watching to see how the government's policies work out, Céline Garaud of the French Chamber of Commerce in Vienna told RFI.
