The French want to see Obama reelected

If the French had a vote in the US Presidential Election, four in five of them would vote for Barack Obama.

An opinion poll conducted for the French television news channel BFMTV showed 78 percent of those surveyed would choose the current President, while only five percent would choose his Republican challenger, Mitt Romney.

Seventeen percent of people had no opinion on the issue.

Around 81 percent of people who identified as being on the political right chose Obama, compared to more than nine in 10 left-leaning voters.

Mitt Romney, who spent time in France when he was young, found slightly more support among French people who identified with the extreme right.

Around 14 percent of people who voted for France’s far-right National Front preferred Romney, still far behind the 67 percent of supporters who would back Obama.
