Forced evictions on rise in China

Issued on:

A report published by Amnesty International says violent forced evictions are increasing in China - the result of local governments trying to pay off debts by seizing land and selling occupation rights to property developers. Some of the evictions have lead to self-immolations by people protesting against the policy. Nicola Duckworth is one of the authors of the report.
