Issued on:

European Union officials meet the new Chinese leadership formally for the first time at the EU-China summit, opening Thursday in Beijing. They were to discuss trade and investment, human rights, innovation, urbanisation, energy resources and climate change and are expected to sign an investment agreement that could reduce trade tensions. China analyst Thomas Koenig says it is up to the EU to seize the moment and take advantage of China's new economic reforms.
