Fugitive former Thai premier Thaksin causes Paris stir

Thaksin Shinawatra, the former Thai prime minister, is due to speak in Paris on 31 May despite being asked by French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner not to speak. Fabien Baussart, the head of the thinktank that invited Thaksin to speak, says the French foreign ministry is trying to limit free speech, but political analysts are unsurprised by Kouchner's stance.
