A meeting of the group of 8 major economies opens in the French seaside resort of Deauville today. And where there is a summit of world leaders with an agenda of economic governance - there is also the corresponding social movement demanding that leaders focus their discussions on poverty, the environment, and human rights. One of France's largest organisations in the alternative globalisation movement, Attac, has already voiced its critiques ahead of today’s summit.
