DSK and Sinclair to file suit over media invasion of privacy

Former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn and his multi-millionaire heiress wife Anne Sinclair are to lodge a formal complaint for alleged invasion of privacy after a string of reports about them in the French media.

Lawyers for the couple said there was no public interest to justify a series of leaks including those from a judicial inquiry into an alleged prostitution ring in northern France.

French media have revealed text messages allegedly sent by Strauss-Kahn to a business man suspected of organising sex parties in restaurants and swingers clubs across Europe and the US.

Strauss-Kahn on Friday demanded to be questioned by judges investigating the case claiming he was the victim of “media-lynching”.

His lawyers have also accused the media of “fantasising in particular about the alleged intentions or frames of mind of the couple”.

The front page of the popular Le Parisien newspaper on Monday showed a photograph of the formerly respected economist looking dejected and sporting a scraggy grey beard with the headline “DSK, a man alone.”

The paper speculates over the state of DSK’s marriage to Sinclair and whether they are about to divorce.

It also claims lawyers in the US preparing the civil case against Strauss-Kahn by Nafissatou Diallo are watching closely as more damning information is revealed.

Diallo accused DSK of attempted rape in a New York hotel where she worked in May.
