Hollande pushes for Greek deal as Paris stocks slump

French President François Hollande has thrown his weight behind a Greek deal, as Athens' ongoing debt crisis plunges the Paris stockmarket for the second time in a week.

"Everything must be done to seal a compromise on the Greek debt crisis," French President François Hollande said on Friday, during a summit in Bratislava, Slovakia.

French banks are bracing for the worst after the latest round of talks between eurozone finance ministers ended without a deal.

On Thursday, the Paris stockmarket closed on a low note - the second time this week- as investors remain cautious about the impact of Greece's debt crisis on the French economy.

An extraordinary summit has been called for Monday between Greek ministers and their creditors to try and clinch an agreement.

We must "do everything to relaunch negotiations, so the talks can achieve a compromise," said Hollande after talks in Bratislava with his Slovak counterpart.

But he insisted that any deal would have to be "in line with European rules."

Athens has until the end of June to agree on a reform deal that allows Greece to qualify for an international bailout; or else it will default on its 1.6-billion-euro IMF debt payment.
