A reconciliation between Turkey and Israel appears likely, as the two countries continue negotiations over Turkish access to the Gaza strip. The ties between the two countries soured in May 2010 after an Israeli naval force raided a Gaza-bound Turkish aid ship while still in international waters. While Hamas was initially surprised at news of this reconciliation, it has since welcomed it. Increasing public pressure has made the Islamic movement desperate to break or at least ease the blockade over the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile Israel is anxious to restore security and economic ties with Turkey, and ease its international isolation. Our correspondent Ibrahim Husseini has this report from Jerusalem.
