France exits World Cup with their heads held high
France crashed out of the World Cup quarter finals on Friday with a 1-0 defeat against their old rivals Germany.

The header from the defender Mats Hummels in the 13th minute was the only goal in the evenly contested match between France and Germany.
While France had many opportunities to score, the excellent form of German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, playing in his 50th appearance for his country, thwarted the French attack led by Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
French coach Didier Deschamps commented after the match: "We were not clinical in front of goal and Neuer made an important save at the end."
Deschamps went on to say that the French team was a little timid at the start but after that put on a good performance.
German coach Joachim Loew said Neuer is key to Germany's success in Brazil as they look to end their 24-year wait for a World Cup title.
Germany advances to the semi-finals for a record fourth straight time, where they will meet Brazil on Tuesday.
