Djokovic confirms tennis supremacy with Monte Carlo win

World tennis number 1 Novak Djokovic won 17th straight match in a row at Monte Carlo on Monday, despite opponent Tomas Berdych staging a comeback in the second set. Djokovic's victory marked a fourth straight Masters 1000 title after his wini at Paris Bercy last November and his Miami-Indian Wells double win earlier this year.

The world number one knows he is riding a wave and is not complaining after winning his 30th match and fourth title of 2015.

Djokovic now owns 52 career titles and 23 at the elite Masters level.

He stands 19-2 over Berdych and 30-2 this season.

The Serbian player will now enjoy a week off before returning to the Madrid Masters in May.

His big test will come in Paris where he will try and win his first Roland Garros title.

Until now this Grand Slam title has escaped him and winning it would gain him a place in the hall of fame of the best tennis players ever.

Only seven players have managed to win all four Grand Slam tournaments, the Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open at Flushing Meadow.

But at Roland Garos, Djokovic will have to fight hard, as his latest opponent Rafael Nadal is currently the holder of nine titles, the most any player has ever won for this tournament.
